Today’s video of the day is Blaqk Audio – “The Viles” released in 2024.

Blaqk Audio, the electronic project of Davey Havok and Jade Puget from AFI, released the song “The Viles” in 2019. This track is part of their fourth album, Only Things We Love. The album showcases the duo’s growth in electronic music, blending dark synths with catchy melodies. The band formed in 2007, debuting with CexCells. That album reached number eighteen on the Billboard 200, marking a strong start. Blaqk Audio’s sound evolved with their second album, Bright Black Heaven, released in 2012. It offered a more polished and expansive sound, featuring the single “Faith Healer.”

In 2016, Blaqk Audio released Material, which became their third consecutive album to debut at number one on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart. This album leaned more into electronic pop, showing the duo’s versatility. Only Things We Love continues this trend. “The Viles” is a standout track, capturing the essence of Blaqk Audio’s darker, more introspective side. The album as a whole reflects themes of love, loss, and longing, tying it to their earlier works while also pushing the boundaries of their sound.

Following Only Things We Love, Blaqk Audio released Beneath the Black Palms in 2020 and Trop d’amour in 2022. Each album builds on the foundation laid by its predecessors, showcasing the duo’s consistent innovation in the electronic genre. The video for “The Viles” complements the song’s moody atmosphere, featuring shadowy visuals and intense performances. It encapsulates the emotion and energy of the track, making it a memorable part of Blaqk Audio’s visual and musical legacy.

In summary, “The Viles” is a key piece of Blaqk Audio’s discography, linking their past with their present. The song, like the album Only Things We Love, captures the duo’s unique blend of electronic music, making it a must-listen for fans and newcomers alike.
