Today’s video of the day is the Twin Tribes – "Cauldron of Thorns" released in 2023.

Released on December 1, 2023, “Cauldron of Thorns” captures Twin Tribes’ darkwave sound at its most atmospheric. The Texas duo formed in Brownsville with Luis Navarro and Joel Niño Jr. Since their debut, they have built a strong presence in modern darkwave and post-punk. Their sound blends synths, bass, guitar, and haunting vocals. As a result, Twin Tribes quickly became a notable name in the contemporary goth scene. The duo released their debut album Shadows in 2018. They followed it with Ceremony in 2020. Both albums helped establish their melodic and cinematic style.

“Cauldron of Thorns” continues that progression on Pendulum, their third studio album. The album arrived in January 2024 and places the song as its seventh track. However, the track first appeared as a digital single in December 2023. Compared with their earlier releases, Pendulum expands Twin Tribes’ atmospheric approach. It also deepens their blend of darkwave, post-punk, and synth-driven melodies. Meanwhile, “Cauldron of Thorns” adds a darker edge to the album’s emotional landscape. Therefore, the track connects their earlier sound with the more expansive direction of Pendulum.

Produced by Saint Almaty, the “Cauldron of Thorns” video creates a striking visual world. A mysterious masquerade party provides the central setting. Meanwhile, intricate choreography and occult imagery reinforce the song’s darker themes. The cinematic presentation also matches Twin Tribes’ atmospheric musical style. In addition, the video surpassed one million views on YouTube. The duo also performed the song during their intimate Audiotree Live session in Chicago. Together, these performances highlight the track’s strong connection to Twin Tribes’ evolving live identity.
