Today’s video of the day is Xtr Human – "Abgrund" released in 2024.

XTR Human returns in 2024 with “Abgrund,” a fierce new track and video that demand attention. Known for blending coldwave and EBM, the Berlin-based band has always taken a bold stance. Now, they raise the volume even higher. Formed by Johannes Stabel, XTR Human began with post-punk roots. Over time, the sound evolved—getting sharper, harder, and more electronic. “Abgrund” continues this evolution. The track appears on their 2024 release, Schrank, a record defined by brutal beats and political urgency.

The song is a reaction to recent events. The European elections showed a disturbing rise in right-wing sentiment. In Germany and across the EU, nationalism is growing. XTR Human responds with sound. “Abgrund” hits hard with aggressive EBM rhythms. Its message is simple but powerful—we must resist hate. The lyrics speak to both speechlessness and rage. As fascism becomes socially acceptable again, “Abgrund” refuses silence. Instead, it fights back. The song is pro-EU, anti-nationalist, and deeply political. It stands for unity and peace in a divided time.

The video, directed by Johannes Stabel, brings the track to life. Cinematography by Sebastian Balz and editing by Thilo Lehnert add to the raw energy. The visuals match the sound—stark, urgent, and confrontational. Together, they create a warning and a rallying cry. Compared to earlier albums like Interior and Atavism, Schrank dives deeper into political themes. The sound is harsher. The message is clearer. “Abgrund” is not just a song—it’s a statement. A call to wake up, act, and stand together. XTR Human uses music as resistance. “Abgrund” is their loudest protest yet. It rejects fear and division. Instead, it demands a future built on solidarity. This is EBM for serious times. And serious times need serious sound.
