Meat Beat Manifesto - Acid Again - Stigmata Video Dance Party

Today’s video of the day is Meat Beat Manifesto – “Acid Again” released in 1998.

Meat Beat Manifesto, known for their innovative electronic sounds, released Acid Again in 1998. This track appears on their album Actual Sounds + Voices. The song stands out for its eclectic samples and pulsating rhythms. Formed in 1987, Meat Beat Manifesto is the brainchild of Jack Dangers. The band has consistently pushed the boundaries of electronic music. They blend genres like industrial, techno, and trip-hop, creating a signature sound. Their influence spans decades, inspiring many in electronic and experimental music scenes.

Acid Again features a compelling sample from WNEW Radio News and Public Affairs Department. It also incorporates elements from Steve Young’s A Child, Again. These samples enhance the song’s layered and hypnotic feel. The track’s title and acid-infused beats nod to the acid house movement of the late ’80s. The album Actual Sounds + Voices showcases Meat Beat Manifesto’s evolution. Compared to earlier works like Storm the Studio, this album leans heavily into experimental soundscapes. Tracks blend jazz influences, breakbeats, and unique audio samples. Acid Again exemplifies this, standing as a bridge between industrial and electronica. In the U.S., Acid Again and its album were released through Nothing Records. Meanwhile, Play It Again Sam Records handled the European release. Both labels emphasized Meat Beat Manifesto’s broad appeal across continents.

This track complements the band’s discography by demonstrating their adaptability. While albums like Satyricon leaned into club-friendly beats, Actual Sounds + Voices delved into ambient and experimental territories. The balance between rhythm and innovation in Acid Again makes it a standout. Meat Beat Manifesto’s work remains a cornerstone of electronic music. Their ability to innovate with each album has kept their sound timeless. Fans of Acid Again often explore their earlier works to witness the band’s growth.
