Today’s video of the day is Croc Shop – “Silver” released in 2021.

The music video for “Silver” by Croc Shop captures the band’s bold evolution. The track is from Perpetual Sequence, their 9th full-length album, released in 2021. With this album, the band explores a Post-Electro, Pop, and Synth-Rock sound. However, subtle nods to their goth-rock and electro-industrial roots shine through. Croc Shop’s journey began in West Berlin in 1988 as “Crocodile” Shop. Their debut album, Lullaby, produced by Dave Fielding of the Chameleons UK, showcased dark goth-rock. Over time, they embraced electronic industrial elements, releasing Celebrate the Enemy in 1993. Their signature blend of darkwave and industrial emerged during their Metropolis Records era. Albums like Beneath, Pain, and Order + Joy gained critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase.

The band paused after the 2004 release of SEA (self-extracting archive), a double-length retrospective. They returned in 2020 with Resist!, a politically charged album, and TRiP: The Rest in Pieces, a massive remix collection. These releases reignited their creative energy. Perpetual Sequence continues this momentum. The album’s 11 tracks showcase Mick Hale and vMarkus refining their sound. “Silver” stands out with its captivating melodies and dynamic production. The video enhances the track’s energy, blending vibrant visuals with the band’s trademark style.

This song bridges Croc Shop’s past and present. It echoes their early darkwave influences while embracing a modern synth-rock approach. Fans of their industrial phase and new listeners alike will appreciate its layered sound. With decades of experience, Croc Shop’s music remains innovative. Their albums chart a unique journey from goth-rock to synth-driven experimentation. The video for “Silver” is a testament to their evolution and enduring creativity.
