Today’s video of the day is Clan Of Xymox – "Jasmine And Rose" released in 1999.

Ronny Moorings and Clan of Xymox created one of darkwave’s most enduring songs with "Jasmine And Rose." Released in 1999, the track opens the band’s eighth studio album, Creatures. Moreover, its haunting melody, driving rhythm, and emotional vocals quickly made it a fan favorite. The video perfectly matches the song’s dreamlike mood. Meanwhile, its gothic imagery enhances the themes of memory, desire, and fading love. Fragrance references, including jasmine, rose, opium, and poison, create vivid emotions that still resonate with listeners today. As a result, the song remains one of Clan of Xymox’s most streamed and frequently performed tracks.

Founded in the Netherlands during the early 1980s, Clan of Xymox became a leading force in darkwave and gothic rock. Furthermore, the band earned international recognition through influential albums such as Clan of Xymox, Medusa, and Twist of Shadows. After experimenting with different electronic styles during the 1990s, Creatures marked a confident return to their darker roots. Therefore, "Jasmine And Rose" became a defining moment in that creative revival. Its rich atmosphere, memorable chorus, and polished production also helped introduce a new generation of fans to the band’s signature sound.

Today, "Jasmine And Rose" stands as one of the essential songs in Clan of Xymox’s extensive catalog. In addition, it connects naturally with later albums such as Notes from the Underground, Farewell, and Spider on the Wall, all of which continue exploring themes of romance, isolation, and introspection. While the band’s sound has evolved, they have remained faithful to their dark and melodic identity. Consequently, the video remains a perfect introduction to their music. Whether you are discovering Clan of Xymox for the first time or revisiting a classic, "Jasmine And Rose" continues to capture the timeless appeal of gothic music.
