Today’s video of the day is Temple – "Submission" released in 2023.

Temple’s “Submission” delivers a fierce hit of Portland goth rock power. It arrives with a striking video that matches the band’s intense style. The song features primal drumming, thunderous bass, and sharp melodic hooks. Meanwhile, the visuals push a dark mood with a raw edge. As a result, the video feels both modern and ritualistic. Even so, it stays true to classic deathrock attitude.

Temple released “Submission” on June 30, 2023 through Swiss Dark Nights. The track appears on their 2023 album Submission, which also includes highlights like “Lies” and “Loveless.” In addition, the album came out as a limited CD and vinyl LP. The band uses tight rhythms and soaring guitar lines throughout. Therefore, “Submission” works as both an anthem and a mission statement. At the same time, it sets the album’s grim tone with confidence.

Temple has built its reputation in the Pacific Northwest scene for years. They often perform at events like MayDay Misery Fest, which strengthened their underground following. Earlier releases helped shape their sound, especially Temple (2018) and Self Ritual Torture (2021). The 2021 compilation Past Laments also revealed their early tape-era roots. However, Submission feels heavier and more focused than before. Later releases like Vengeance / Entropy (2026) continue that forward momentum. Ultimately, the “Submission” video captures Temple at their most direct and dangerous.
