Today’s video of the day is Eisbrecher – "Stossgebet" released in 1991.

German industrial rock band Eisbrecher released the music video for “Stossgebet” in 2020. The song appears on their covers album Schicksalsmelodien. This unique record features the band’s take on classic German songs, reimagined in their powerful style. “Stossgebet” stands out with its intense energy and dark tone. The video matches this atmosphere. It features stark visuals, dramatic lighting, and emotional performances. Together, the sound and visuals create a striking experience. Eisbrecher formed in 2003, led by singer Alexander Wesselsky and producer Noel Pix. They quickly became known for blending heavy guitars with electronic elements. Their music fits within the Neue Deutsche Härte genre, alongside bands like Rammstein and Oomph!

Over the years, Eisbrecher has released several successful albums. These include Antikörper (2006), Die Hölle muss warten (2012), and Sturmfahrt (2017). Most of their albums feature original songs with strong industrial and metal influences. In contrast, Schicksalsmelodien explores a different path. It pays tribute to songs that influenced the band. “Stossgebet” was originally performed by Megaherz, Wesselsky’s former band. By covering it, Eisbrecher connects their present sound to their past. This adds personal meaning and continuity to the track. The video for “Stossgebet” enhances the emotional depth of the song. It shows the band’s performance style, while also highlighting the lyrical themes. The mood is dark, yet powerful.

Compared to earlier albums, Schicksalsmelodien shows a more reflective side of Eisbrecher. Still, the band’s signature energy remains. The album balances nostalgia with fresh production. Each track, including “Stossgebet,” showcases the band’s ability to transform songs into something new. Fans of Eisbrecher will appreciate how this video blends history and innovation. It offers a fresh take on a familiar song, wrapped in the band’s unmistakable style. For new listeners, “Stossgebet” provides a strong introduction to the band’s sound.
