Today’s video of the day is Mona Mur & En Esch – “Candy Cane” released in 2019.

The song “Candy Cane” by Mona Mur & En Esch appears on their 2009 album, 120 Tage – The Fine Art of Beauty and Violence. This collaboration blends dark, industrial sounds with a haunting beauty. Mona Mur, known for her avant-garde style, and En Esch, celebrated for his work with KMFDM and Pigface, bring a fierce, yet artistic edge to this track. En Esch, born Klaus Schandelmaier, gained fame in Germany as a member of industrial bands like KMFDM and Pigface. His raw, edgy sound pairs seamlessly with Mona Mur’s dark, atmospheric style. Mona Mur first entered the music world in 1982, performing with members of Einstürzende Neubauten. Her early work with “Mona Mur & Die Mieter” gained attention, and soon she went solo. Known for her intense voice and innovative sound, Mona later turned to sound design for video games and film, establishing a unique reputation in this field.

120 Tage – The Fine Art of Beauty and Violence was the duo’s first album together, merging their talents into a powerful industrial soundscape. “Candy Cane” stands out with its eerie melody and hard-hitting beats, epitomizing the album’s dark, gritty themes. This song captures the album’s core — a mix of beauty and brutality. Since this release, Mona Mur and En Esch have continued to work together, exploring new sounds and expanding their industrial roots. They’ve toured extensively across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, introducing audiences to their intense music. Their second album continued the raw energy, solidifying their impact in the industrial music scene.

“Candy Cane” and 120 Tage reflect Mona Mur’s return to singing, blending her iconic voice with En Esch’s edgy production. This album paved the way for more collaborations, cementing their combined legacy. For fans of industrial music, 120 Tage is a must-hear, and “Candy Cane” offers an unforgettable experience within this dark, powerful world.
