Revolting Cocks - Attack Ships On Fire - Stigmata Video Dance Party

Today’s video of the day is Revolting Cocks – “Attack Ships On Fire” released in 1987.

Released in 1987, “Attack Ships On Fire” is a standout track by the Revolting Cocks. This song is featured on the live album and video You Goddamned Son of a Bitch. The album captures a high-energy performance recorded at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago on September 4, 1987. The Revolting Cocks, an American–Belgian industrial rock band, was formed in 1985. The group consists of Al Jourgensen, Luc Van Acker, and Richard 23. Their music combines industrial rock with provocative themes and innovative sounds. You Goddamned Son of a Bitch is their second LP, following the release of Big Sexy Land.

While the album captures the essence of their live shows, there is some controversy regarding its authenticity. According to Al Jourgensen’s autobiography, the entire concert was re-recorded at Trax studio in Chicago after the original recording was deemed unsatisfactory by band members Paul Barker and Chris Connelly. Despite Jourgensen’s initial satisfaction with the original recording, he eventually agreed with Barker and Connelly on the re-recording. This decision highlights the band’s commitment to delivering the best possible sound quality. The song “Attack Ships On Fire” exemplifies the industrial rock genre with its aggressive beats and dark lyrics. This track, like the rest of the album, showcases the band’s dynamic live performance style. You Goddamned Son of a Bitch reflects the band’s raw energy and creative vision during this period. Comparing it to their previous album, Big Sexy Land, the live album shows the band’s evolution in sound and performance. It captures a pivotal moment in their career, offering fans a glimpse into their energetic live shows.

In summary, You Goddamned Son of a Bitch stands as a significant release in the Revolting Cocks’ discography. It represents a powerful live performance, though re-recorded for clarity, and highlights their unique industrial rock style.
