Today’s video of the day is Psyche – "Unveiling The Secret" released in 1986.

Psyche emerged in the early 1980s as a forward-thinking electronic duo. Brothers Darrin Huss and Stephen Huss formed the project in Canada. They drew inspiration from European synth-pop and darker experimental sounds. As a result, Psyche quickly stood apart from their peers. By 1986, they had refined a colder and more disciplined style. This shift set the stage for their most important era. The visuals for “Unveiling The Secret” reflect that moment. They emphasize mood, symbolism, and restrained intensity.

“Unveiling The Secret” appears on the album Unveiling The Secret, released in December 1986. The track closes the original LP. It also acts as a mission statement for the band. Sharp synth lines drive the song forward. Meanwhile, Darrin Huss delivers controlled and emotional vocals. The video mirrors this tension. It favors shadow, minimal movement, and ritual-like imagery. Therefore, it reinforces the song’s lyrical themes. References to transformation and forbidden knowledge run throughout. The result feels hypnotic and austere.

Within Psyche’s catalog, this song marks a clear turning point. Earlier releases leaned more toward melodic synth-pop. However, Unveiling The Secret introduced darker textures and EBM influences. That direction continued on later albums like Mystery Hotel and Intimacy. Still, none matched the raw focus of this record. For many fans, it remains the definitive Psyche release. The title track stands at the center of that legacy. It connects their early curiosity with their later maturity. As a result, the video endures as a key document of darkwave history.
