Today’s video of the day is Decoded Feedback – "Behind my Smile" released in 2016.

The video for “Behind My Smile” by Decoded Feedback captures the haunting tone of the track. Released in 2016, the song blends cold electronics with emotional depth. The video reflects this mood through stark visuals and shadowy imagery. It’s minimal, raw, and unsettling. Decoded Feedback formed in 1993. The Italian-Hungarian electro-industrial duo originally included Yone Dudas and Marco Biagiotti. Based in Canada, they developed a loyal following in the dark electronic scene. In 2018, Decoded Feedback became the solo project of Yone Dudas. Despite the lineup change, the sound stayed true to its roots. “Behind My Smile” appears on the 2016 album Dark Passenger. This album dives deep into emotional themes. It combines harsh beats with melodic synth lines. The song fits well within this framework. It explores hidden pain, a recurring theme across the album.

Compared to earlier works like Mechanical Horizon or Shockwave, Dark Passenger feels more introspective. While older albums focused on futuristic and dystopian themes, this one turns inward. “Behind My Smile” stands out by showing emotional vulnerability through powerful lyrics and cold production. The video enhances that message. It avoids bright colors or complex effects. Instead, it uses close-ups and shadows. This choice keeps the focus on the emotion behind the music. The result is a simple but powerful video that matches the track’s mood perfectly.

Fans of Decoded Feedback will recognize the signature sound. However, they’ll also notice a deeper emotional layer. This track bridges the older style with a more personal approach. It shows how the project evolved without losing its identity. Since becoming a solo act, Decoded Feedback continues to grow. “Behind My Smile” marked a turning point. It showed a willingness to explore human emotion without losing the industrial edge. For both new listeners and longtime fans, the video and song offer a powerful glimpse into the heart of the project.
