Today’s video of the day is Laibach – “I Want To Know What Love Is” released in 2025.

Laibach has released a stunning reinterpretation of “I Want to Know What Love Is.” The song is available through Mute Records on all digital platforms. This iconic Foreigner ballad has been transformed into a trilogy of versions. Fans can enjoy the original reinterpretation, an extended mix, and a distorted love mix. The release is part of Laibach’s ongoing exploration of popular music. It follows their earlier reimaginings of “Strange Fruit” and “White Christmas.” These reinterpretations showcase Laibach’s unique ability to transform familiar songs into thought-provoking art.

The song is featured as an encore during the Opus Dei Revisited Tour, which began in 2023. Audiences have embraced this powerful rendition, often singing along. The song is not yet part of a specific album but connects to Laibach’s history of tackling global themes. Their albums, like Opus Dei and Spectre, often reinterpret cultural symbols and songs. Laibach collaborated with the Slovenian duo Silence on the arrangement. Grammy-winning producer Marc Urselli handled the production. Urselli, known for working with Nick Cave and Lou Reed, adds his polished touch. This partnership creates a straightforward yet impactful reinterpretation of the classic love ballad.

Laibach, formed in Slovenia in 1980, is known for blending industrial, classical, and avant-garde styles. They gained international fame with albums like Nova Akropola and Kapital. Their reinterpretations often comment on politics, culture, and humanity. This new release fits seamlessly into Laibach’s repertoire. It bridges their earlier politically charged works with more emotionally resonant projects. The reinterpretation of “I Want to Know What Love Is” continues their legacy of reshaping familiar music.
