Today’s video of the day is Veracocha – “Carte Blanche” released in 1999.

Veracocha’s Carte Blanche is a defining track in trance music history. Released in 1999, it was the only single by Dutch producers Vincent de Moor and Ferry Corsten under this alias. Both artists were already celebrated for their solo work and numerous pseudonyms, but their collaboration became an instant classic. The track was first released on Deal Records in the Netherlands and later on Positiva in the UK. It climbed to number 22 on the UK Singles Chart, solidifying its popularity. The B-side, “Drafting,” added a deeper, atmospheric sound to the release.

What makes Carte Blanche so iconic? Its soaring melody, driving rhythm, and uplifting energy captivated audiences worldwide. DJs across the globe included it in their sets, making it a staple of late ’90s trance. Over the years, the track has been remixed and re-released, demonstrating its timeless appeal. In 2008, Cosmic Gate and Manuel De La Mare offered fresh interpretations. In 2023, the song returned as “Dirty South & Ferry Corsten – Carte Blanche,” proving its enduring relevance. Veracocha’s impact wasn’t limited to their original work. They also remixed Ayla’s “Ayla,” showcasing their ability to elevate other artists’ tracks. Despite releasing only one single, their contribution to the trance genre remains significant.

The music video for Carte Blanche perfectly captures the spirit of the late ’90s rave culture. It combines hypnotic visuals with the track’s euphoric energy, creating an immersive experience. The video amplifies the song’s emotional resonance, making it a must-watch for fans of electronic music. Unlike many artists, Veracocha didn’t release a full album. Instead, Carte Blanche became their defining achievement. Its influence on trance music is undeniable, and its frequent remixes and re-releases keep it alive in the hearts of fans. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to trance, Carte Blanche offers a perfect introduction to the genre. The song’s video adds an extra layer of enjoyment, enhancing its legendary status.
